What are shared coordinates in Revit®?
Shared coordinates in Revit are used to establish a common origin and orientation for a building or site model. They allow multiple models to be accurately placed and aligned in a single project, which is especially useful when working on large, complex projects with multiple teams. By using shared coordinates, each team can work on its own model while ensuring that everything is aligned with the rest of the project. This helps to prevent errors and discrepancies that can arise from using different coordinate systems.
Is it important to know the exact geolocation of my project?
What if I want to import a CAD that doesn’t have the correct Coordinates for my project?
What is the difference between Revit’s native acquire coordinates and Environment’s Set Coordinate tool?
Revit’s native “Acquire Coordinates” tool allows you to define the location of a project using geographic or survey point information. This tool can be used to set up shared coordinates for your project.
On the other hand, Environment’s “Set Coordinate” tool provides additional functionality for managing and manipulating shared coordinates. This tool allows you to modify shared coordinates in your model, as well as copy and paste shared coordinates between elements or views. You can also use the “Set Coordinate” tool to link multiple Revit models together and ensure that they share the same coordinate system.
