What are Model Lines and Detail Lines in Revit and how are they different?
Model Lines are lines that can be seen in the entire model, including 3D views, – they have a Z value. On the other hand, Detail Lines are view-specific and only visible in the view where they are created, they don’t have a height value. Model Lines are usually used to represent actual building or site elements, such as contour lines, while Detail Lines are used for annotation purposes, such as indicating dimensions or other specific information in a particular view.
Can I create topography in Revit by drawing contour lines?
Absolutely! This is not only possible, but it’s also a great way to get accurate results when using Environment for Revit. To do this, you can start by using model lines to represent the contour lines of your desired topography. From there, you can use the “Add Lines” option, which is available through our Topography Tools, to place elevation points along the model line with just a few clicks.
